Hostels provide the benefit that everything is laid on - no cleaning to do or meals to prepare - and are sometimes found in the best city centre locations. Vacation rentals provide an opportunity to stay in a normal house of the area, and give the liberty to pop up and vanish that could be missing with a hotel. Camping vacations are a way for a young family to go visit France. Facilities rely, as usual, on the price that is paid. Do not confuse these huge family orientated campsites with camping a la ferme ( on the farm ) French-style when you make your booking. Camping at a farm is an inexpensive, normal camping experience where you pitch your tent in a field - and few facilities beyond running water and toilets are provided. Instead you get intricate shows charting the history of the area, stunning views and an exciting, instructional day out. With a lot of 3d theatres and other attractions and shows ( some of which are the sole examples in the world ), the park is a good choice for those wanting to vacation further south of Paris.
The last main option is French vacation towns, and maybe these offer the best of the possible worlds. But on-site pleasure is only part of a successful vacation.
